When it comes to luxury watches, we tend to leave the details in the hands of the experts. But what if you don’t have to wait around for the watch of your dreams? Six decades after it first offered its most esteemed “Piaget Society” members (think Elizabeth Taylor, Jackie Kennedy, and Salvador Dali) the opportunity to customise their timepieces with the “Style Selector” program, Piaget will once again bring the magic of watch personalisation to its clients.

This time, it’s been christened the “Infinitely Personal” concept. This re-exploration of its bespoke roots will take a leaf out of Style Selector in that it allows clients to customise their watches, only now its done via an online configurator instead of in boutiques. Two of the brand’s most popular models will be given this unprecedented level of flexibility: The Altiplano Ultimate Concept and the Altiplano Tourbillon.

Currently the thinnest mechanical watch in the world at a mere 2mm, the Altiplano Ultimate Concept is already a micro-engineering feat in itself to create. However, Piaget wants to go above and beyond by letting clients choose how they want this absurdly thin timepiece to look, not only with the colour of the bridge, dial, hands, and screws but also the main plate and straps to either match or contrast. Up to three initials or numbers can also be engraved on the right side of the dial. More than 195,000 permutations are available here so you won’t be bumping into anyone with the same one anytime soon.

Choose to create your very own Altiplano Tourbillon, however, and the number of potential combinations gets bumped up to a staggering four million. Your creative journey begins with choosing the size of the case (either 38mm or 41mm) and between various gold and gem settings. Then you’ll get to choose from a kaleidoscope of colours for the dial, but for something more personal, come prepared with a specific Pantone colour in mind.

For something fancier and with more visual depth, there’s always the four hand-engraved guilloché enamel grand feu options or a mother-of-pearl version in four different hues. The caseback is open to engravings too, as is the ring around the tourbillon cage, which can be finished with an engraved message and set with gems.

Piaget’s Infinitely Personal Concept pieces are priced upon request but expect it to be more than a pretty penny. Still, it’s only a small price to pay for a horological wonder that you can truly call your very own.
